East Mountain Chamber of Commerce
Board Meeting—Feb. 9, 2007
Call to Order: The monthly board meeting of the East Mountain Chamber of Commerce was called to order by President Bill Walters at 8:15 a.m. at the Cedar Point Grille, as no others were there for the networking meeting.
Board Members Present: Ellen Ashcraft, Jeffrie Burdette, Wayne Clay, Rohnn Sanderson, Bill Walters
Others in Attendance: Loretta Olson
Approval of Minutes: Rohnn motioned and Jeff seconded the approval of the minutes from the Feb. 1 general meeting, Jan. 12 board meeting and Feb. 1 special board meeting. All approved.
Treasurer’s Report—Jeff says he is working on the Chamber’s books.
Old Business:
Rohnn is still trying to contact Craig to check on status of golf tournament plans. Rohnn intends to be more active with this year’s tournament. Rohnn is checking on a date for the tournament with Paa-Ko.
Ellen sent out a press release on Feb. 9 about new activities for the chamber this year.
Rohnn reports that the Chamber’s cross country ski race event will be postponed until 2008 due to timing issues.
After the credit card issue is resolved, Rohnn will withdraw any monies in the Bank of the West account.
The board again discussed expanded Visitor Center hours in the new year. Rohnn will call Don DuBois about his special workforce connections who may be paid in part by the government.
Bill will send Ellen the membership brochure so that Ellen can format it.
New Business:
In discussing speakers for the general meetings, Sheriff White was again suggested for a report on crime in the East Mountains.
The board discussed Mary Safford to fill an at large position on the board.
Rohnn will speak with Greg at the community center to see who in the city to speak with about signage for the Visitor Center.
Jeff is going to investigate a wireless card for the Chamber computer to speed up internet connection. Ellen motioned, Rohnn seconded and all approved that Jeff could spend money if such a card will work for us.
Jeff is organizing a business expo, tentatively for March 15 at Los Vecinos Community Center, 5:30-8 p.m., $10 for Chamber members and $25 for non-members.
The board discussed the pros/cons of an Independence Day parade or ice cream social.
The board discussed the Ambassadors Committee and that it might bring in new members by offering to do grand openings for non-Chamber member businesses.
